The purpose of this course is to help you become familiar with the online learning environment used in all of the Laureate Faculty Development Certificate Programs. This course explores the online environment and provides you with the skills you need to successfully complete the different online modules. This module will help prepare you for being successful in the online environment. To that end, in this module, you will:
  • Become familiar with online learning
  • Gain hands-on experience with technologies used in online learning
  • Share experiences and collaborate with other teaching professionals
  • Explore the LIU Faculty Development Portal and the LIU Learning Community


This module is presented in two sections:

  • Section 1-Explores the dynamics of the online classroom and the discussion tool used to communicate and collaborate with other participants.


  • Section 2-Explores additional tools used in the Blackboard online classroom.


  • Each of these sections provides information and an opportunity to practice the skills necessary to be successful in the Laureate Faculty Development program.
